In June 2020, an act of neo-Nazi vandalism took place in Vologda.
Initially, it was reported that unknown persons had drawn a swastika on the monument to Lenin. The image was applied using a pre-prepared stencil. Later it became known that "forbidden symbols" (which ones were not reported) also appeared on the building of the Vladimir Chapel in the Kremlin Garden.
Local residents contacted the police. A criminal case has been initiated under Art. 214 of the Criminal Code (vandalism).
In August 2020, it became known that the police had detained two suspects. They were local residents born in 1987 and 1989.
