The EU recommended Schengen to cancel the restrictions on the internal borders from June 15

The European Commission considers it possible to remove restrictions on the internal borders of the Schengen zones and the countries associated with it from June 15. This was stated by a member of the European Commission for Internal Affairs Ilva Johanson.

According to her, the epidemiological situation in these countries has improved sufficiently, which allows you to remove restrictions on movement within the EU. The possibility of crossing the external borders of the European Union was also discussed. However, the European Commissioner noted that the ban on optional trips across the external borders of the EU should extend for another two weeks - until June 30. “These restrictions cannot be removed right away. We will do it gradually, ”said Ilva Johanson.

Russia was not included in the list of countries, tourists from which will be allowed to enter the EU from July 1. At the first stage, optional trips to the EU will allow citizens of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia and Serbia. They plan to expand the sets of countries by supporting the epidemiological situation in a particular state, measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus and whether it cancels restrictions on traveling to the EU.
