Symantec: Hackers of Evil Corp attacked more than 30 servers of American companies

In the United States, dozens of cases of hacker attacks against servers of more than 30 large American companies are recorded, Symantec Corporation, specializing in computer security.

According to the corporation, hackers tried to introduce a program called WastedLocker into the network infrastructure of companies. This program blocks the operation of servers, demanding a ransom for their unlocking.

At the moment, attempts at attacks on 31 US companies have been confirmed. It is emphasized that among the corporations that became the goal of hackers are 8 companies from the list of 500 largest commercial companies in the United States.

According to experts, the WasteDlocker program is associated with the activities of the famous hacker group Evil Corp.

Earlier it was reported that the participants of the hacker group of Evil Corp, the disclosure of which were announced by the US authorities and Great Britain, cooperate with the Russian security forces. Radio Liberty found out that the leader of the group is Maxim Yakubets, the son -in -law of the former special forces of the FSB. Medusa also reported that one of the Evil Corp members is the son of former mayor of Himmok Vladimir Strelchenko Andrei Kovalsky.

On December 5, 2019, the United States announced sanctions against Evil Corp and related companies, assessing the damage from hackers at more than $ 100 million.
