Chinese researchers were able to identify a new pork flu strain - G4. Its further mutations can lead to pandemia, reports The Guardian with reference to the publication of scientists in the American journal PNAS.
“G4 has all the essential features that indicate its high ability to infect people,” the authors of the study from Chinese universities and the Center for the prevention of China diseases write.
The study was conducted in 2011-2018 in 10 Chinese provinces on slaughterhouses and in veterinary clinics. It turned out that the G4 ferrets causes more serious symptoms than other viruses, and the immunity produced by a person during a seasonal flu does not apply to G4.
“This is concerned, since the infection of a person with the G4 virus will lead to his further adaptation to a person and increases the risk of pandemic among people,” scientists came to the opinion.
