Residents of Saratov protest against the construction of a mosque

In mid-July, it became known that the residents of Saratov were against the construction of a mosque at the intersection of Novouzenskaya and Serov streets.

Residents of one of the houses on Novouzenskaya Street organized collection of signatures against construction.

"We have there is no prejudice against any religion, we just do not want to wake up at 4 o'clock in the morning from the singing of the mullah. We have a big house, it houses dozens of elderly people and babies. We want to see a well-maintained green area where you can relax with your family ,” the signature collection initiators.

From June 29 to August 7 in Saratov are public discussions of changes to the master plan of the city, including the possibility of building a mosque on this site. The area is now assigned to Spiritual Administration of Muslims, but the city authorities do not exclude that the appointment plot will be changed to a recreational zone in which you cannot build religious objects. The final decision has not yet been made.
