Great Britain and the USA said that Russia conducted a test of a device in space that could destroy satellites in near -Earth orbit. About this writes the BBC.
This is concerned with the US State Department. The Russian Ministry of Defense previously stated that new technologies are used to check Russian space equipment. The United States had previously expressed concern due to the activity of the Russian satellite program that has recently increased.
However, as the BBC notes, this is the first time when Britain also made charges of Russian tests. Previously, a report was published, which stated that the British government "greatly underestimated the threat that Russia poses."
On the eve of the vice-march of aviation, Harvi Smith, who heads the British space department, announced a statement that states that London is preoccupied with the similar behavior of Russia, since it threatens the peaceful use of the cosmos, and that the apparatus launched by Russia has the characteristics testifying to its military mission.
Britain asked Russia not to conduct such tests anymore.
