A criminal case on the preparation of terrorist attacks was instituted against the detainees in Belarus of the Wagner PMC. This was stated by Secretary of State of Security Council Andrei Raskov, reports Radio Liberty.
Rakkov added that, in addition to the detained fighters, up to 200 Wagner PMCs are located in Belarus. Now they are looking for them.
“33 are detained, up to 200 are in the territory, according to operational information,” said Raskov.
Earlier, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, called the detention of several dozen mercenaries of the Russian PMC Wagner near Minsk and instructed to request clarifications from the Russian side.
“I look at the reaction of Russians. They already, justifying, say that almost we ourselves brought them here. Clearly, it is necessary to somehow justify your dirty intentions, ”said Lukashenko. “If you are to blame, we must get out of this situation with dignity. Not to blame - well, we have no goals to discredit the country close to us, ”he added.
The day before, it became known about the detention of 33 Russians in the sanatorium near Minsk, presumably consisting of Wagner PMCs.
According to BelTA, the law enforcement agencies of the republic learned about the arrival of more than 200 militants “to destabilize the situation during the election campaign”. The Russians first settled in one of the hotels of Minsk, and then moved to the sanatorium of the Minsk district. “Visitors attracted attention uncharacteristic for Russian tourists with behavior and monotonous clothes in the style of the Militari. They did not drink alcohol, they did not visit the entertainment establishments, held out separately, trying not to attract attention. They carefully studied the territory and environment of the sanatorium in small groups, ”the report said.
