Sortavala: a verdict was passed in the case under Art. 280
In August 2020, in the city of Sortavala, Republic of Karelia, a court sentenced a 69-year-old local resident to 2 years in prison, who was found guilty of publishing texts calling for xenophobic violence on the Internet.
On August 20, 2020, the Sortavalsky City Court of the Republic of Karelia issued a verdict in the case of public incitement to extremism (part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code).
In the dock was a 69-year-old local resident who, according to law enforcement agencies, published anti-Jewish texts on the VKontakte network in 2016-2018.

The court found the resident of Sortavala guilty and sentenced him to 2 years of imprisonment with probation for 1 year, with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to the use of the Internet for a period of 1 year.
