The court sentenced Airat Dilmukhametov to nine years in prison

Bashkir activist Airat Dilmukhametov was found guilty under four articles of the Criminal Code.

On August 24, 2020, the Central District Military Court in Samara sentenced Airat Dilmukhametov, an activist of the Bashkir national movement, to nine years in a strict regime colony with a ban on administering websites for three years. The prosecutor's office asked to sentence the activist to 12 years in prison.

Dilmukhametov was found guilty of:

• Part 1 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremist activity) - for a statement about Chechens;

• Part 2 Art. 280.1 of the Criminal Code (public calls for separatism on the Internet) - for the publication of a video message, as well as for speaking on the radio "Echo of Moscow in Ufa" about his concept of the Fourth Bashkir Republic;

• Part 1 of Art. 282.3 of the Criminal Code (financing of extremist activity) - for the publication of appeals for the collection of funds to support his struggle "for the new IV Bashkir Republic";

• Part 2 Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code (public justification of terrorism on the Internet) - for a video with his reaction to the persecution of members of the radical Hizb ut-Tahrir party, which is banned in Russia as a terrorist one.

We tend to consider all these accusations unjustified (for more details see here , here , here and here ). Dilmukhametov has been in custody since March 2019, he filed a complaint against the arrest with the ECtHR.

In 2011, Airat Dilmukhametov was sentenced under Part 2 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (calls for extremist activity), part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code (public justification of terrorism) and Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting national and religious hatred) to six years in prison, and in 2015 to three years in a strict regime colony under Part 2 of Art. 205.2 CC.
