Ukraine introduced preferences for Belarusians when entering the country

Citizens of Belarus will receive a preferential regime at the entrance to Ukraine, despite the closure of borders. According to Interfax, this said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleb.

“The citizens of Belarus who will strive to enter the territory of Ukraine, trying to avoid the crisis that unfolds in the neighboring country, will use the preferential regime, and the state border service will consider their requests and will provide permission to enter,” Kuleba said.

Earlier, the minister announced that Ukraine “paused” all contacts with Belarus and resume them when they make sure that they are not carrying “neither reputational, nor political or moral risks”.

Lithuania also previously stated that she was ready to accept refugees from Belarus. On August 26, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania said that after the presidential election in Belarus, Lithuania accepted the country with humanitarian goals of 22 Belarusians, half of which officially asked for political asylum. For special humanitarian reasons, a total of 36 people received permission to come from Belarus for special humanitarian reasons.
