Dating service for women Bumble, sold last year by Andrey Andreev to the investment company Blackstone Group, has scheduled an IPO for early 2021, writes Bloomberg.
The company's IPO value is estimated at $6-8 billion, much more than Andreev received for control of his dating empire. Last year, Blackstone valued the entire MagicLab (Bumble plus Badoo) at $3 billion, while Andreev's stake was valued at no less than $2.2 billion.
This is another IPO in the wake of "hot" placements in the tech sector like Airbnb and DoorDash, Bloomberg notes. The preparation of the placement is at the stage of negotiations with banks, but the details have not yet been worked out, the agency notes.
Bumble was founded in 2014 by former Tinder employee Whitney Wolf Heard. She left Tinder, accusing her former boss and boyfriend of harassment at the same time, Andreev offered to invest in a competing project. For a share in 20% the founder of Badoo paid $10 million.
Now Bumble has more than 100 million users, in 2019 the service received $162 million in revenue.
