On September 12, 2020, in Nizhny Novgorod, at the Rebel punk bar, a round table was held on countering extremism in Russia and in the world, organized by the SOVA Information and Analytical Center and the Committee against Torture.
WITH The speakers were: director of the SOVA center Alexander Verkhovsky, expert of the center Natalia Yudina, Nizhny Novgorod human rights activist Stanislav Dmitrievsky and a participant Nizhny Novgorod Political Red Cross Ekaterina Zaitseva.
Alexander Verkhovsky talked about how the anti-extremist legislation works in Europe and in Russia. Natalia Yudina reported on the dynamics of hate crimes in Russia and how anti-extremist law enforcement developed from 2004 to 2019.
Ekaterina Zaitseva announced statistics on the application of extremist legislation in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The speech of Stanislav Dmitrievsky was also devoted to the situation with countering extremism in the region.
