
France does not recognize the re -election of Alexander Lukashenko legitimate. According to Kommersant, this was stated by President Emmanuel Macron.
“We do not recognize the election of Lukashenko, so we do not recognize his status of the chosen president,” Macron said at a press conference with Lithuania President Gitanas Nauceda in Vilnius.
He said that he was going to meet with Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, the meeting is scheduled for September 29.
The French President also announced the need to impose sanctions against Belarus.
Earlier, the European Union said that Lukashenko recognizes the legally elected president, and announced the revision of relations with Belarus. The US, Ukraine, Slovakia, Germany and Lithuania also refused to recognize Lukashenko by the president.
