Omsk: verdict in the case of justifying terrorist attacks in mosques

V. Permenev was fined 400 thousand rubles.

On November 3, 2020, it became known that the First Eastern District Military Court found V. Permenev, a serviceman of military unit No. 20051, guilty under Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code (public justification of terrorism on the Internet) and sentenced him to a fine of 400 thousand rubles.

According to media reports, in one of the social networks, Permenev “spoke approvingly” about the terrorist attack that happened in the city of Christchurch, “considered the actions of the criminal to be correct, in need of support and imitation.” He published these arguments when he was a graduate student at the branch of the Omsk Military Academy of Logistics.

Recall that on March 15, 2019, two terrorist attacks occurred in two mosques in the city of Christchurch (New Zealand), as a result of which 51 believers were killed and 49 were injured. The organizer of the attacks, far-right Australian Brenton Harrison Tarrant, published an anti-Muslim and anti-migrant manifesto the day before.
