The court in Pskov confirmed the refusal to recover half a million rubles from Svetlana Prokopieva based on an expert’s claim

The Pskov Regional Court upheld the decision to refuse to satisfy the half-million dollar claim for the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation against journalist Svetlana Prokopyeva. The Center for the Protection of Media Rights reports this.

Such a claim was previously filed by psychologist Olga Yakotsuts, who acted as an expert in the criminal case on the justification of terrorism against Prokopieva. The court of first instance completely rejected Yakotsuts' claim, and the regional court confirmed this decision.

At the meeting, the journalist was represented by Svetlana Kuzevanova, senior lawyer at the Center for the Protection of Media Rights.

The psychologist demanded to recover 500 thousand rubles from Svetlana Prokopyeva: in her opinion, the journalist made allegations in her Facebook post that Yakotsuts violates business ethics and behaves unethically in her personal, public and political life.

In the publication in question, Prokopyeva said that she was assigned a second examination, since the first did not reveal signs of the crime charged to her (justification of terrorism). The journalist cited the names of two new experts, among whom was Olga Yakotsuts, candidate of psychological sciences and director of Consortium LLC. Both experts are in Khakassia for unknown reasons - this is what the investigator decided to do “for a complete and comprehensive study.”

Prokopyeva then suggested that the investigator “will find another Horns and Hooves LLC” and will continue to ensure that the journalist is convicted. “So, let’s open Google and read about Yakotsuts, mentally preparing for the second year of the investigation,” Prokopyeva wrote then.

• In July, journalist Svetlana Prokopyeva was sentenced to a fine of 500 thousand rubles in a criminal case for justifying terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) for her text about the explosion in the FSB reception room in Arkhangelsk.
