Believers accuse ex-schema-abbot Sergius of insulting the feelings of believers and child abuse

On November 19, 2020, it became known that a group of believers turned to the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Tkachev, the Commissioner for Children's Rights in Russia Anna Kuznetsova and her and the Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Sverdlovsk Region Igor Morokov with a request to conduct an audit of the activities of the former schema-abbot Sergius (Romanov). The applicants see in his actions signs of insulting the feelings of believers and psychological violence against children .

“We learned that in the Sredneuralsky convent, violence is used against children; in their presence, the so-called “exorcism of demons” occurs, while mentally ill people scream, convulse, and swear. <…> Children develop incorrect psychological and moral attitudes in connection with the implementation of this type of activity. Since we are believers, such information offends our religious feelings,” the appeal says.

One of the recipients, Igor Morokov, said that they would check the facts stated in the message, although these facts are already “ the subject of the work of the investigative committee .”
