Smolensk: case under Art. 280 Criminal Code

A local resident is accused of public calls for extremism.

On December 7, 2020, it became known that in Smolensk the Leninsky District Court will consider the case of a 4th year student of the Smolensk Pedagogical College, who is accused under Part 2 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremism on the Internet).

According to a report on the court’s website, from June to November 2019, “on the pages of thematic communities” on VKontakte, the young man published comments “containing calls for extremist activities against persons of Chechen, Jewish and Gypsy nationalities.”
