The Moscow City Court recognized the decision to extend the arrest to the adviser to the head of Roscosmos Ivan Safronov, who was accused of Gosizman. This was reported to TASS in the press service of the court.

Safronov will remain in jail until March 7, 2021.

The former correspondent of the newspaper Kommersant and Vedomosti Ivan Safronov became an adviser to the general director of Roskosmos Dmitry Rogozin in May 2020. He is under arrest from July 7 on charges of Gosizmen (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) for the transfer of secret data. He himself insists that in his work he used only information from open sources, and connects criminal prosecution with his journalistic activity.

On December 17, Vladimir Putin, during a large press conference, again stated that Safronov was not persecuted for journalistic activities.

“From open sources, Safronov found out or not - the investigation will figure it out. After all, he is judged not for journalistic activities. He is not a dissenting journalist who was poking for opposition to power, ”the president said.

“Is it possible to forgive him and have mercy later, this is a matter of the next stage, to talk about it prematurely,” Putin said .
