US approves use of Moderna vaccine

The US authorities have approved the use of Moderna's coronavirus vaccine, President Donald Trump announced on his Twitter.

“The Moderna vaccine has been overwhelmingly approved. Its distribution will begin immediately,” Trump wrote.

Approval for the mass use of the vaccine is given by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Prior to that, she had already allowed the population to be vaccinated using a drug developed by the American Pfizer and the German BioNTech.

The United States was one of the first countries to issue emergency approval for the use of Pfeizer and Moderna vaccines. For example, the Spanish Ministry of Health expects the European Union to approve the Pfizer vaccine no later than December 29, and Moderna by January 12. European authorities later announced that the decision to use the Moderna vaccine would be made on 6 January.

The American company Moderna claims that the COVID-19 vaccine has shown an effectiveness of 94.1%, and in severe cases - 100%.
