The Minister of Health of Great Britain Matt Hankok announced the “way out of control” of the new coronavirus strain, discovered a few days before. This is written by Bloomberg.
According to him, the number of new cases of infection has grown sharply. Because of this, it was decided by new restrictions, because of which more than 16 million British will have to be quarantined on Christmas.
Due to the growth of incidence in London and Southeast England, the highest level of restrictions was introduced. In these regions, all stores will close, except for grocery and trading in necessity, bars, restaurants, hairdressing and entertainment institutions. Residents are forbidden to meet people from other households only if it is not a meeting alone outside the house.
It is planned that these restrictions will last several months.
The day before, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, during a press conference, stated that in London, as well as in the southeast and east of England, on December 20, restrictions on the fourth level will be introduced in connection with the spread of Covid-19. Residents of these regions should not travel beyond. They are recommended to work from home and limit contacts as much as possible. In addition, gym halls and shops in which essential goods are not sold will be closed.
Hankok announced the discovery of a new coronavirus strain on December 14. According to him, then more than a thousand people in 60 districts infected them mainly in the south of England. Prime Minister Boris Johnson called him “70% more contagious” than Covid-19.
