Six suspects arrested in series of nationalist murders

The court arrested Andrei Kayl, Maxim Khotulev, Alexander Lysenko, Pavel Khrulev, Alexey Gudilin and Semyon Tokmakov.

On December 24, 2020, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow remanded previously detained Andrei Kayl, Maxim Khotulev, Alexander Lysenko, Pavel Khrulev, and Alexey Gudilin into custody until February 2020. Semyon Tokmakov was arrested the day before, on December 23. Later, Maxim Aristarkhov , who was already serving his sentence, was charged in the same case.

Those arrested were charged with committing murders by an organized group, motivated by national hatred and enmity (paragraphs “a”, “g”, “l”, part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code).

Let us recall that on December 23, 2020, it became known that six people were detained in Moscow, Sochi and Tyumen, involved in a series of “ particularly serious crimes, including the murders of people from the Central Asian region ,” committed in the early 2000s.

The Investigative Committee reports that the crimes were revealed as part of the investigation into the brutal murder of two people, a video of which appeared on the Internet in the summer of 2007. The murder became known when a video appeared on the Internet, where, against the backdrop of a flag with a swastika, a native of Dagestan, Shamil Udamanov (Odamanov), and a native of Central Asia were brutally killed. The ultra-right cut off Udamanov’s head, and shot the second victim at point-blank range. According to investigators, the murder was committed in April 2007 near the town of Korolev, Moscow Region, “for the purpose of promoting nationalist ideology.”

The investigation believes that the former leader of the Format 18 and Restrukt organizations, Maxim Martsinkevich , who was found dead in a pre-trial detention center in September 2020, also took part in the murder. Martsinkevich also testified about committing, together with members of nationalist organizations, other murders of people of “non-Slavic appearance” in 2002-2006. He said that he was ready to indicate the burial places. On the territory of the Gagarinsky district of the Smolensk region, the skeletons of two people with signs of violent death were discovered. The murders were committed in the fall of 2003, but the remains were discovered in the summer of 2020.

The case involves an episode of the murder of an “associate” named Wolf in October 2002 for “inappropriate behavior.” Wolf lived in Moscow. Previously, he was a member of the Werewolf organization, where the leader was Igor Pirozhok .

“ Despite the long-standing nature of the crimes, their initial lack of obviousness, the complex of investigative actions and operational search activities carried out allowed the investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia, together with colleagues from law enforcement agencies, to collect evidence indicating the involvement of the detained members of the neo-Nazi group in criminal activities ,” the investigative committee said. During the searches, firearms and traumatic weapons, knives, and neo-Nazi propaganda paraphernalia were discovered and confiscated from the defendants.

The former leader of the People's National Party (PNP) and ex-leader of the Russian Target organization Semyon Tokmakov offered armed resistance during arrest. During interrogation, he admitted to committing especially serious crimes in complicity with other members of the organization. In particular, he testified regarding the murder in December 2003 of two “non-Slavs”, parts of whose bodies were dismembered and thrown out in the Golyanovo area in Moscow.

Let us recall that Semyon Tokmakov is one of the most famous leaders of Moscow skinheads in the late 90s. On September 27, 1999, he was sentenced to three years in prison for beating a black American Marine, William Jefferson, who worked as a security guard at the US Embassy in Moscow, as well as a translator at the diplomatic mission, Lola. Kholmatova. Tokmakov was immediately released under an amnesty. On June 28, 2000, he was detained during a clash between skinheads and police in northern Moscow on suspicion of organizing riots, but was released the next day.

After Semyon Tokmakov, the youth wing of the NNP was headed by Andrei Keil. Then he moved to Siberia and started the construction business.

Alexander Lysenkov was also a member of the NNP until 2004.

Maxim Khotulev was mentioned as one of the editors of the book “Icy Dawn”, published in 2000 as a result of the “first evening of right-wing radical poetry” under the title “Cold Sun of the North”. The collection also includes poems by Tokmakov, Alina Vitukhnovskaya, and performers of the Kolovrat group.

Alexey Gudilin’s page on the VKontakte social network (last visit on December 22) contains neo-pagan symbols, images of swastikas and Celtic runes. One of his pictures with the words “Merry Christmas! It’s just the number April 20 and everything is clear to everyone,” probably dedicated to the birthday of Adolf Hitler and stylized as attributes of the Third Reich. Gudilin has tattoos with Nazi symbols.

Pavel Khrulev (Myshkin) professed conservative Orthodoxy. Media reports that Artem Kostylev (Kostyl), who was found hanged in October 2020 in a forest near Moscow, may also be involved in the attacks. And also Mozhaev, who committed suicide.

On February 15, the Basmanny Court of Moscow extended the period of detention for murder suspects. The court extended the arrest of Maxim Khotylev, Andrey Kayl, Alexander Lysenko, Alexey Gudilin, Pavel Khrulev until May 22, Semyon Tokmakov until May 21, and Maxim Aristarkhov until May 16.
