Far-right activist detained in Barnaul

According to investigators, the 20-year-old young man was a supporter of the Ethnic National Association (ENO) and was thinking about a terrorist attack in a mosque.

On April 2, 2021, the FSB reported that a 20-year-old supporter of the far-right Ethnic National Association (ENO) had been detained in Barnaul. He became a defendant in a criminal case under Art. 205.3 of the Criminal Code (undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities).

According to investigators, the young man planned to carry out "actions of "direct action" aimed at intimidating the local population, including people from the Central Asian region, in relation to objects of mass gatherings of Muslims, as well as state authorities."

During the search, an explosive was confiscated from him, as well as instructions for making IEDs, extremist literature and telephones “containing photographic materials of reconnaissance of objects of criminal encroachment.” One of these objects, according to investigators, was a local mosque.
