The monastery previously occupied by the military registration and enlistment office was transferred to the Astrakhan diocese

April 6, 2021 authorities of the Astrakhan region handed over to the Russian Orthodox Church the complex of the Annunciation Monastery, with Soviet era, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense.

"For the Ministry defense it was not an easy decision, associated with additional costs. Now the military commissariat, which has occupied the monastery since 1949, is being relocated to the building of the Caspian flotilla ,” said the governor of the region Igor Babushkin.

Governor and Metropolitan of Astrakhan and Kamyzyak Nikon (Fomin) discussed a plan for restoring the monastery.
