PACE intends to demand the release of Navalny until June 7

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe calls to be released from prison Alexei Navalny until June 7, as well as provide him with the necessary medical care. This was reported by TASS with reference to the draft resolution PACE.

“The Assembly calls on Russia to immediately release Navalny under any circumstances before the next meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on the subject of compliance with human rights in June,” one of the points of the resolution says. According to the schedule, this meeting is scheduled from June 7 to 9.

This appeal in PAC was reinforced with a reference to the request of the European Court of Human Rights of February 17, 2021, which refers to the immediate liberation of Alexei Navalny on the basis of the 39th rule of the ECHR regulation on interim measures.

The draft resolution also needs to provide Navalny “all the necessary medical care” while he is in the colony and allow him to conduct an examination to any doctor he will choose. Representatives of the Council of the Council of Europe on the prevention of torture are invited to conduct an inspection of the colony, which contains Navalny.

In the explanation to the draft resolution, its author, French deputy Jacques, argues that he sent requests to meet with the deputy minister of justice of the Russian Federation, “high -ranking officials of the Federal Penitentiary Service and the Prosecutor General’s Office”, as well as representatives of the Russian delegation PACE, but did not receive an answer to any of them.

The draft document was previously approved during the meeting of the Law Committee PACE on Monday. The debate and voting on the resolution are scheduled for Thursday.
