The State Duma may allow religious organizations to use the names “Russia” and “Russian Federation” in their names

The State Duma is considering a bill giving religious organization the right to use in its full name the names "Russia", "Russian Federation" and their derivatives.

May 19, 2021 State Duma Committee for the Development of Civil Society, issues of public and religious associations recommended to take into account the second reading of the draft amendments to the laws "On non-commercial organizations" and "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Associations".

These amendments give religious organizations the opportunity to use official the name "Russian Federation" or "Russia", as well as derivatives from them, in names of religious organizations “included in the structure of the centralized religious organization of the same denomination, if used in names of the specified religious organizations of the full name centralized religious organization.
