Saratov region: suspects in creating an ultra-right community detained

The media reported on the detention of several young people.

On May 28, 2021, several media outlets, citing sources in law enforcement agencies, reported the arrest of fourteen (according to other sources, eight) teenagers in the Saratov region. The detainees are suspected. 1 and 2 Art. 282.1 of the Criminal Code (creation of an extremist community and participation in it), one of them is under house arrest.

According to media reports, in 2020, two previously convicted 17-year-old young people, together with a 17-year-old schoolboy and another 17-year-old boy who does not work or study anywhere, united in the Right Guard community (another name that appears in the media is "Association of the Slavs of the Saratov region"). Their ideology was based on hatred of LGBT people, non-Slavs and atheists. According to some reports, the supporters of the Right Guard were young people between the ages of 18 and 22.

During the investigation of the case, 14 searches were carried out, as a result of which pneumatic weapons, knives, bats and "Nazi symbols" were found in the homes of teenagers.

Law enforcement agencies have not yet made official statements about the operation.

Later on May 28, TASS, citing the Center for Public Relations (CSO) of the FSB, reported that fourteen of the detained young people were supporters M.K.U. of The UK told the publication that the three suspects under Part 1 of Art. 282.1 of the Criminal Code, a measure of restraint was chosen in the form of detention, and one - in the form of house arrest. On June 1, 2021, it became known that the investigation was checking the involvement of the detainees in the attack on the second-year student of the Theater Institute Ilya Bondarenko.
