The Russian Orthodox Church announced data on clergy who were ill and died from coronavirus

On June 2, 2021, the working group under the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' on coordination of the activities of church institutions in a pandemic reported on the number of clerics affected by COVID-19.

"Were ill coronavirus infection a total of 4915 people from among the clergy and monastics of the Russian Orthodox Church. Including 419 parish clerics Moscow, 3573 clerics of the dioceses of Russia and 923 clerics and monks of stavropegians " , - counted in the working group.

“Out of 165 deceased - 18 clerics of the parishes of Moscow, 122 clerics of the dioceses of Russia and 25 clerics and inhabitants of stavropegians , ”the group’s Telegram channel reports.

As of August 25, according to working group, 143 clerics and monastics of the Russian Orthodox Church continued to be treated for coronavirus infection, but from the consequences of COVID-19 179 people died - 20 clerics of Moscow parishes, 132 clerics dioceses of Russia and 27 clerics and monks.

As of September 29, 2021, the coronavirus 5,973 clerics and monastics have been ill with the infection, of which 452 are clerics of Moscow, 4,503 are clerics of dioceses Russia and 1018 clerics and inhabitants of stavropegic monasteries. Another 97 the person continues treatment. 198 people died: 20 parish clerics Moscow, 150 clerics of the dioceses of Russia and 28 clerics and monks of stavropegians.

On November 25, new data of the working group under the patriarch: 65 people died in less than three autumn months Human. As of October, there were 200 deaths from COVID-19 among the clergy. In November, another 21 clergymen died.
