On June 4, 2021, it became known that the First Eastern District Court found the imam from Lesosibirsk Marat Mukhametshin guilty under Part 1 of Art. 205.1 (public calls for terrorism and its justification) and part 1 of Art. 133 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (inciting a person to have sexual intercourse by blackmail) and sentenced him to six years in prison in a strict regime colony.
According to investigators and court, Mukhametshin supported the ideology of the "Islamic state”, when conducting classes on the study of religion and Arabic language persuaded the inhabitants of the region to terrorist activities and the spread of extremist materials.
It is reported that the imam agreed with the allegations.
