On June 9, 2021, the FSB departments for the Chuvash Republic and the Udmurt Republic reported on the detention of Rustem Salimzyanov. In which region Salimzyanov was detained is not specified. It is known that in 2017 he lived in the city of Kanash (Chuvashia).
According to media reports, the department considers the detainee to be the "leader of a regional cell" of the radical Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia.
Recall that Salimzyanov has already been prosecuted several times for cooperation with Hizb ut-Tahrir.
