A verdict was passed under Article 280 of the Criminal Code

In the Volgograd region, a local resident was convicted of xenophobic messages in a Telegram group chat.

On July 1, 2021, the Oktyabrsky District Court of the Volgograd Region passed a sentence on 22-year-old Ivan Morozov  under part 2 of Art. 280 Criminal Code (public calls for extremist activities). He was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 1 year months suspended, with a probationary period of two years, with deprivation of the right engage in activities related to the administration of sites for a period for two years.
According to court records, in April 2019, Morozov published in a group chat on the Telegram app “voice messages containing calls to commit hostile, violent actions against representatives of the nationalities of the Caucasus and Transcaucasia and persons holding communist and leftist political views, as well as to seizing power and destroying police stations.
The activity of the defendant was suppressed by officers of the FSB of Russia for the Southern Military District and the Center for Environmental Protection of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Volgograd Region.

The investigation of the criminal case was carried out by the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Volgograd region.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the alleged crime in full.
