Jeff Bezos left the post of General Director Amazon

The founder of Amazon Internet retailer Jeff Bezos left the post of general director of the company. According to The Verge, Andy Jassi became the new general director and president of the company, who headed the Amazon Web Services unit.

“We chose this date, because it is dear to me - this is the day on which in 1994, exactly 27 years ago, Amazon was founded,” Bezos said in a statement.

Bezos served as the General Director of Amazon for 27 years, since the founding of the company on July 5, 1994. Now he has become the executive chairman of the board of directors of Amazon.

It became known about the intention of Bezos to leave the post of general director in February, and in May he stated that he would leave his position on July 5. After leaving the post, he will remain the chairman of the company's board and continue to own more than 10% of its shares.
