Arkhangelsk: court fine for calls for extremism

Vyacheslav Kabankov released from criminal liability under Art. 280 of the Criminal Code.

On July 12, 2021, it became known that in Arkhangelsk, the Oktyabrsky District Court dismissed the criminal case of 40-year-old Vyacheslav Kabankov, accused under Part 2 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremism on the Internet), and imposed a court fine on him in the amount of 20 thousand rubles.

According to media reports, the reason for initiating the case was that Kabankov published on the Internet "calls to commit violence motivated by hatred against representatives of one of the national groups."

During the investigation, the accused made a public apology to "persons whom he offended on a national basis."
