On July 14, 2021, the Penza Regional Court sentenced the defendants in the case of a fight in Chemodanovka to terms of 2 to 10 years in prison.
The court found Nikolai Petrovich Yurchenko guilty of causing grievous bodily harm resulting in death through negligence (Part 4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code) and sentenced him to seven years in a maximum security colony. None of the Roma admitted guilt during questioning in court. In March, three defendants told the court about torture during the investigation, including stuffiness and lack of food in the cells. On June 1, the president of the regional public organization of the Penza region "Sails of Hope" Andrei Arshinovich Ogly reported that 28 defendants in the case of a mass brawl in Chemodanovka went on a hunger strike at a meeting in the Penza regional court and informed the judges that they would cut their veins in the pre-trial detention center in protest against extension of the arrest period.
