The Ministry of Justice published information on the reasons for recognizing an STI as a “foreign agent”

The Ministry of Justice published on its website information on the reasons for recognizing the Institute of Law and Public Policy (ILPP) as an organization that performs the functions of a "foreign agent". This drew the attention of the publication "MBH Media".

Officials believe that the STI was involved in organizing various public events and holding debates, discussions and speeches.

In addition, the organization filed appeals to state bodies and local governments, and also disseminated "opinions on decisions made by state bodies and their policies, etc."

At the same time, the institute, according to the Ministry of Justice, received funding from the embassies of Canada and the Netherlands and ten foreign organizations registered in Lithuania, Great Britain, America and Switzerland. The organization has also received funding from the EU Program Office, the European Commission and the Council of Europe.

The Institute, the Ministry of Justice points out, carried out its activities in order to "influence the activities of these bodies, including those aimed at the adoption, amendment, repeal of laws or other regulatory legal acts."

The result of the systematic work of the STI in the field of strategic judicial protection is precedent decisions of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation and the European Court of Human Rights.

In particular, at the end of May, with the support of the institute, the lawyer Maria Eismont managed to make her non-admission to the police department illegal under the pretext of introducing the “Fortress” plan.

Earlier, the STI was preparing a complaint from Kazan environmental activist Irina Nikiforova to the Constitutional Court: following the results of consideration, the Constitutional Court recognized as unconstitutional the practice of considering single pickets held on different days as one collective event.
