Foreign workers rebelled at the Amur GPZ sentenced to real terms

Nine foreign citizens were sentenced in the Amur Region to the terms of imprisonment for the pogrom in the territory of the shift town of the Amur gas processing plant (GPZ). The builders were conflicting with the management of the enterprise in the summer of 2020.

Workers were charged under Part 2 of Art. 212 of the Criminal Code (participation in the riots), which provides for three to eight years in prison. Svobodnensky City Court sentenced six foreign citizens to 1.5 years in prison, three - by one year and seven months of imprisonment, the website of the regional department of the IC of the Russian Federation reports . They will serve these terms in a general regime colony, and then the authorities "will solve the issue of their deportation."

“In relation to other active participants in the riots, criminal cases are considered in court,” the RF IC added.

According to the investigation, on July 13, 2020, in the city of Svobodnoye on the territory of the Cupil of the Amur gas processing complex between foreign citizens and the management of the Renaissance Heavy Industries, which they were in labor relations, a conflict arose. It was caused by “disagreements in terms of reimbursement of expenses for paying patents for labor activity” in the territory of the Russian Federation. The cost of a patent (about 6 thousand rubles) employers deducted migrants from the salary of migrants, promising to pay them when issuing an advance, Interfax reports .

“As a result, there were mass riots with the participation of workers using stones, wooden sticks, metal rods and other items that pose a danger to others, leading to pogroms in office premises, a store and mobile stores, residential premises located in a shift village of builders,” the RF IC said.

About 300 workers participated in the riots. The fighters of Rosgvardia arrived at the scene. During the prosecutor’s audit, it turned out that the employer unilaterally held more than 1 thousand workers from the salary of 14.4 million rubles to pay for patents in two months.

Criminal cases were opened under Part 2 of Art. 212 of the Criminal Code (participation in the riots) and under Part 2 of Art. 213 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism). The most active participants in the riots were taken into custody.

During the investigation, the employees of the IC of the Russian Federation examined the damaged premises of the contracting organization and outlets in the housing sector of the complex, the accounting documentation was studied, representatives of the employer and builders with the participation of translators were interrogated, and confrontations were held between witnesses and the accused.

Operational support was carried out by employees of the regional departments of the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Guard.
