
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Vladimir Kolokoltsev fired the head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Stavropol Territory of Major General Sergei Shchetykin, TASS reports .
The decision to dismiss Shchetykin was made immediately after reports on the detention of the head of the regional traffic police department Alexei Safonov.
According to the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk, Kolokoltsev took such a step after an operation carried out in the Stavropol Territory by employees of the Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB Office.
Today, the head of the traffic police department Alexei Safonov and dozens of his subordinates were detained in the case of receiving a large -scale bribe (part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code) for a total of more than 19 million rubles. According to investigators, under the leadership of Safonov, the group members sold to truckers of the pass, who allowed them to work in the region "with violations of administrative legislation."
According to the deputy Alexander Khinshtein, in the morning almost the entire top of the traffic police of the Stavropol Territory - more than 35 employees were detained.
Khinshtein also added that the detainees "is charged with the organization of a criminal community, receiving bribes, abuse, excess, etc.."
In addition, Khinshtein conducted a “excursion to the palace of the head of the traffic police of Stavropol”, publishing a photo from the house of Alexei Safonov. The pictures show that Safonov lived in a two -story cottage, fenced with a high fence with gilded gates. Inside the house - furniture and appliances with gold trim, in particular, a gold toilet, a sink and a mirror.
In addition to Safonov, the security forces detained the ex-head of the Stavropol Directorate of the traffic police Alexander Arzhanukhin, as well as inspector Vitaly Melchikov.
