The militants of the Taliban terrorist movement captured the city of Shibargan - the capital of the province of Dzhazuzhan, located in the north of Afghanistan. About this, as the local agency Pajwork reports , said the deputy governor of the province of Abdul Kadir Malia.

According to the head of the province of Babur Ashchi, the militants captured the entire Shibargan, except for the military base, around which battles are still ongoing. According to the agency, during the battles the head of the jazazhan prison was killed.

Earlier, the militants captured the city of Zarange-the capital of the province of Nimruz, and later killed the head of the press center of the government of Afghanistan and former deputy spokesman of the country's president, Dava Khan Minapala. Representatives of the movement took responsibility for what happened. The representative of Taliban said that Minapal "suffered punishment for his actions."

A few days before the murder of Dava, Minapala Taliban said that they were preparing attacks on senior officials of the state in response to a series of airstrikes applied according to their formations.

Recall that on May 1, the withdrawal of the international coalition troops from Afghanistan officially began. It was planned that it would last until September. US President Joe Biden said the American military has completed all the tasks set for them.

Already in May, simultaneously with the start of the withdrawal of the coalition troops from Afghanistan, the militants of the Taliban began an offensive on a wide front. By the end of July, the Taliban took control of more than 160 of almost 400 regions of the country, as well as several border crossings and sections of important highways. The militants said that they control about 90 percent of the border of Afghanistan and 85% of the country's territory.

The advance of the Taliban is accompanied by a humanitarian crisis. In the city of Lashkarkgs, the capital of the Gilmene, as a result of fierce battles that lasted a week, shops burned. The local population was left without essential goods.

According to the United Nations, in the first six months of 2021, 1659 civilians died in Afghanistan. 3,524 people were injured.
