Relatives of the dead in terrorist attacks on September 11 asked Biden not to visit the memory shares until the documents about these attacks will not be declassified

Members of the family of victims of terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 called on US President Joe Biden not to attend memorable events on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the tragedy if he does not declassify government documents on the circumstances of the attacks.

About 1800 people signed a letter with such an appeal. In their opinion, documents indicate involvement in the conspiracy of officials of Saudi Arabia, BBC reports .

According to investigators, the attacks were committed by the Al-Qaeda terrorist group and provoked the US invasion of Afghanistan, 15 of 19 hijackers were citizens of Saudi Arabia.

“We cannot conscientiously and respect the dead, sick and wounded, welcome the president on our holy lands until he fulfills his obligation,” the letter of family members and survivors said.

The administration of George Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump refused to declassify the documents, citing considerations of national security.

“Twenty years later there is simply no reason-unreasonable statements about“ national security ”or any other reasons-to keep this information secret,” the letter said.

On September 11, 2001, the suicide bombers captured four American passenger aircraft. Two crashed into the skyscrapers of New York, as a result of which thousands of people died.

The buildings were set on fire, people were trapped on the upper floors. In less than two hours, both 110-story towers collapsed.

Another plane destroyed the western wing of the Pentagon, the other crashed in the field in Pennsylvania. It is believed that hijackers intended to attack the Capitol building in Washington.

2977 people were killed, most of them in New York.

The attack remains one of the most traumatic events of the century not only for Americans, but for the whole world.
