Astrakhan: case under Art. 205.2 CC

A local resident is suspected of justifying the terrorist attack in Christchurch.

On August 6, 2021, it became known that in Astrakhan a criminal case was initiated against a local resident under Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code (public justification of terrorism on the Internet).

The reason was a post published on a social network in which a man justified the terrorist attack in the city of Christchurch. According to media reports, the suspect has already pleaded guilty.

Recall that on March 15, 2019, two terrorist attacks occurred in two mosques in the city of Christchurch (New Zealand), as a result of which 51 believers were killed and 49 were injured. The organizer of the attacks, far-right Australian Brenton Harrison Tarrant, published an anti-Muslim and anti-migrant manifesto the day before.
