Due to the oil spill in the Black Sea, searches began at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (KTK) -an enterprise at the terminal of which the oil emission occurred. The UK also retrained the criminal case on the spill of oil products for a heavier composition - from part 1 of Article 252 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (pollution of the marine environment) to part 2 of the same article (pollution of the marine environment, which caused significant damage to aquatic biological resources and the environment). It provides for up to two years in prison.
The head of the KTK Nikolay Gorban said that the stain in the Black Sea is not oil . According to him, the first satellite picture of the water area confirmed the area of the oil spot in 200 square meters, and the spot in the second picture is not oil (what its origin, Gorban did not specify). “To date, the coastline and the sea water area are clean, the water samples are normal,” the businessman said.
But in the Russian Academy of Sciences with the CEO of KTK did not agree . At the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which interpreted photos of stains in the Black Sea water area, insist that the spot was formed due to leakage of oil products. “Given the nature of the spot in the satellite picture ... It is very difficult to assume that this is any natural natural phenomenon,” said the Institute, a candidate of biological sciences, Philip Sapozhnikov.
The Kuban governor did not see oil spots in the Black Sea. But this does not mean that they are not. “We made a circuit by the helicopter of the Black Sea water area in the area of Abrau-Durso, Anapa and Novorossiysk. We did not see oil spots in the sea water area. We did not find any consequences of the spill or leakage of oil. There is no threat to the sea flora and fauna, there is no threat to vacationers, ”Kondratyev said .
Earlier, the Russian unit of the World Wildlife Fund explained that light oil fractions were on the surface of the water, which quickly evaporate, but more severe fractions would spread in the water thickness, having a toxic effect on the environment and, possibly, polluting the coast.
Oil spill in the Black Sea occurred on August 7. But they started talking about him only four days later . The accident occurred when loading raw materials into the Greek tanker Minerva Symphony through the removal mooring device of the KTK. The company announced the incident only on August 9, saying that the spill area was 200 square meters. On August 10, the Institute of Space Research by the Russian Academy of Sciences (Iki RAS) said that the area of the spill 400 thousand times more - 85 square kilometers. On August 11, the media began to write about this, the UK opened a criminal case, and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko instructed to evaluate the real scale of oil leakage.
