Poland will build a fence of barbed wire 2.5 meters high on the border with Belarus.

The Polish authorities decided to build a fence on the border with Belarus using twisted barbed wire. This was stated on Monday at a briefing and on Twitter Minister of Defense of the Republic of Marius Blashcak.

“The decision to strengthen the border is based on the construction of the fence,” he said. - Already this week, work on the construction of the wall will begin. Its height will be 2.5 meters. It will be created from a twisted wire laid on one another. ”

According to the minister, "it will be a solid fence." Even more soldiers will be sent to the border protection. Now about a thousand military are involved. This number is planned to double, reports TASS.

The total length of the Polish-Belarusian border is 418 km. According to the last week of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic, still a barbed wire fence has been used to protect almost 100 km of the border on the site protected by the tanning border service. Against the backdrop of the current migration crisis, the authorities announced the intention to additionally protect another 50 km of the border section with a fence.

Earlier, Poland and Lithuania addressed the European Union to apply more stringent measures against Belarus in connection with the migration crisis in the region. The EU believes that the Belarusian authorities bring migrants to the borders and force them to switch to the territory of Lithuania and Poland. These actions in the European Union are called "hybrid aggression."

Since the beginning of the year, more than 4 thousand illegal migrants have been detained on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border. This is almost 50 times more than for the entire 2020.

According to the Poland Ministry of Internal Affairs, since the beginning of August, 2.1 thousand attempts were registered illegally to penetrate the country from the territory of Belarus. Last year there were 120 of them. Border guards prevented 1,350 attempts to cross the border. 780 foreigners were detained and placed in closed centers.

The transportation of Iraq citizens to the Belarusian-Lithuanian border was carried out with the participation of the Centerkurort State Travel Company, which is part of the management of the affairs of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. It is assumed that the flow of migrants is used by the Belarusian authorities to blackmail European countries that impose sanctions against Minsk for suppressing the opposition and repression.

On August 9, Alexander Lukashenko announced that Belarus was ready to receive tourists from the UAE, Turkey, Syria, Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan, explaining this by economic reasons. At the same time, he rejected the accusations of organizing illegal migration.
