The court found Yabloko member Ravilova “involved” in the activities of an extremist organization

Another activist from Yabloko was recognized as involved in Navalny's organizations, which deprives her of the right to participate in elections for three years.

On September 22, 2021, the Sovetsky District Court of Kazan granted the claim of the district prosecutor's office to recognize Yabloko member Gulnaz Ravilova as "involved" in the activities of the Navalny Headquarters extremist organization.

The lawsuit was filed at the end of August. As Ravilova reported at the time, the prosecutor’s office claimed that the activist was related to Navalny’s headquarters in that she publicly expressed her disagreement with the persecution of Alexei Navalny himself and the ban on his organizations in social networks, and also justified the actions of local activists Andrei Boyarshinov and Timur Tukhvatullin, who were detained for actions in support of the politician.

Ravilova in the last elections to the State Duma was a member of the regional group of the Yabloko party list, and also participated in the by-elections of municipal deputies in the Zelenodolsk region of Tatarstan. She failed to win the election.

From our point of view, the expression of protest in connection with the persecution of a banned organization should not be regarded as involvement in its activities. Therefore, we consider the granting of the appropriate status to Ravilova unlawful.

The Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), the Foundation for the Protection of Citizens' Rights (FZPG) and the headquarters of Alexei Navalny were recognized as extremist organizations on June 9, 2021. The decision to ban came into force on 4 August. We believe that there are no legal grounds for banning Navalny's organizations as extremist. You can read more about our position here .
