Sergei Shurygin received a suspended sentence for creating and leading an extremist community and publicly calling for extremist activities.
On September 24, 2021, the Taganrog City Court of the Rostov Region convicted Sergey Shurygin, regional coordinator of the Left Front political movement, under Part 1 of Art. 282.1, part 1.1 of Art. 282.1 (organization extremist community and recruitment into it), Part 2, Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for carrying out extremist activities).
The press service of the courts of the Rostov region reports that from May 2017 to November 28, 2018, Shurygin created and led the community, " whose actions were directed against the Jews. Shurygin created a page on social networks religious-political movement and publicly posted texts and images inciting national hatred ".
We are talking about the community "Union of the World Liberation Movement AllatRa People's Brotherhood" ("Union of the peoples of the sun and the peoples of the crescent"), "based on the ideology foreign religious association "International public the AllatRa movement.” Let us recall that the movement was created on the basis of the new Ukrainian organization Allatra, and the central element of his ideology is the fight against the "world Zionism." He is also characterized by Stalinism and the messianic idea, according to which the Russian nation must save humanity and unite around themselves the peoples of the world. According to a press release from the FSB, " the main goal community marked the fight against the Jews and representatives of the Orthodox Jewish religious associations, including by force, for which a combat group was created on the basis of the movement ."
The court took into account the full confession of guilt by the defendant, his age and state of health and sentenced him to conditional imprisonment for 6 years 6 months with a probationary period of 5 years, during which the convicted person will be registered with the penitentiary inspection at the place of residence.
The court appointed Shurygin and additional types of punishment in the form of restriction of freedom for a year, as well as a ban on activities related to the management and organization of the work of political, religious and public organizations and associations for three years.
The prosecutor's office did not agree with the court's decision and appealed against it, demanding that the suspended sentence be replaced with a real one with serving in a general regime colony. However, the Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Rostov Regional Court refused to satisfy this demand, but only ordered Shurygin to report to the penitentiary inspection at least once a month.
