The former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Italy fell under the investigation due to the imposition of the landing of illegal immigrants from the ship who had saved them

In Italy, an investigation is opened against the former Minister of Internal Affairs of Matteo Salvini on the fact of possible preventing the landing of migrants from the vessel who had saved them. It is reported by Interfax with reference to the Italian press.

The case is based on the events of August 2019, when Salvini could use his official position in order to hold 147 rescued illegal migrants on the ship in the sea and prevent them from landing in Italy.

Salvini himself claims that this decision was not his own, but was agreed with the Cabinet of Ministers, including his then head of Giuseppe Comte. The prosecution stated that the witnesses in this case were invited by Contain, the current Minister of Internal Affairs of Italy Lucian Luchan Lammorezze and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Luigi Di Mayo.

In August 2019, a group of illegal immigrants rescued by members of the team of the Spanish non -profit organization Open ARMS, for six days was not allowed to go ashore in Italy. At the same time, the subsequent inspection of the vessel indicated that all this time people were on it in terrible sanitary conditions.
