The court transferred to the pre-trial detention center from the ricee of the Shaninka rector Sergei Zuev, who suffered a hypertensive crisis

The Moscow City Court sent from under the house arrest in the pre-trial detention center of the rector of Shaninka "Sergey Zuev, who over the past month suffered several hypertensive crises. It is reported by RTVI.

The preventive measure was changed at the request of the prosecutor's office. The arrest was made in the case of the former deputy head of the Ministry of Education of Marina Rakakova.

Zueva is suspected of embezzlement of more than 21 million rubles from the Fund for new forms of education development, which ordered Shaninka several studies in the framework of the federal project “Teacher of the Future”.

The rector himself does not plead guilty.

In the evening of October 28, Zuev became bad. Ambulance doctors diagnosed him with another hypertensive crisis. He refused hospitalization. In the morning, Zuev’s condition worsened and he was urgently taken to the hospital. For a long time, the rector spent in the reception department, after which it was taken by the FSIN employees. This was done without notifying the defenders of Zuev.

Sergei Zuev was detained on October 12 in the case of the theft of 21 million rubles from the Fund for new forms of development of education. The rector was sent under house arrest, although the prosecutor's office demanded to detain him.

Hundreds of Russian scientists, including Academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences, signed an open letter to the prosecutor general Igor Krasnov in defense of the accused. They pay attention to the fact that the 67-year-old Zuev shortly after it became known about the charges against him, was hospitalized with myocardial infarction and underwent heart surgery . He has this operation - the third in a row only in the last year. In these circumstances, the conclusion of Zuev in custody “not only cannot meet the legitimate interests of the investigation, but also becomes a means of pressure, which have all the signs of torture”, representatives of Russian science believe.

Together with the rector of the university in the same criminal case, the former Deputy Minister of Education Marina Rakova is being held. In this post in the government, she, according to the investigation, received state funding for a project for the Fund for new forms of education development, which she herself headed. In addition, Rakova abducted the funds when concluding state contracts for the implementation of the “Teacher of the Future” project in 2019, investigators say. Shaninka was the contractor of the "teacher of the future."

According to the conclusions of the investigative examination, the reports on conducted scientific research have signs of falsification. Investigators estimated the amount of theft at 50 million rubles.

Lawyer Sergei Sevruk confirmed that in the case we are talking about two contracts with the initial value of 50 million rubles. However, over the year they were not fully fulfilled and terminated by agreement of the parties. By that time, the performers had already received 21 million rubles.
