
The US citizen and the former Marine Corps Trevor Reed announced a hunger strike in the Mordovian colony. Previously, he was sentenced by the Russian court to 9 years in the colony for attacking police officers.
“Due to the repeated illegal, according to Reed, his rights in the schizo and other significant violations of his rights in the colony of Red from November 4, 2021 declared a hunger strike,” lawyers Sergey Nikitenkov and Victoria Buklov told Interfax.
They recalled that Trevor Reed does not admit the guilt in the attack on employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The chairman of the Public Supervisory Commission (PMC) of Mordovia Valery Krutov said that the commission did not receive appeals from Reed and his lawyers regarding the hunger strike.
Earlier, ABC News wrote about the hunger strike of 30-year-old Trevor with reference to his relatives and a Russian girlfriend. The American has been in a single chamber for almost three months, and he has not been given to contact his family for almost four months.
According to Reed's relatives, there is not even a toilet in his small cell. In addition, the convict was not transferred to the items that the American ambassador John Sullivan brought him to the colony on September 7.
The Golovinsky District Court of Moscow on July 30, 2020 sentenced Rida in the form of nine years in prison in a general regime colony.
