
The World Court of the Tagansky district of Moscow fined a web service for the development of GitHub IT projects for 1 million rubles for failure of prohibited information. It is reported by the Telegram channel of Moscow ships.
GitHub found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 13.41 Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the procedure for restricting access to information) for failure of the lists of “smart voting”.
Before the elections to the State Duma in September, Roskomnadzor introduced the Domain “Smart Voting” to the register of prohibited sites and began to block the Navalny application. After that, supporters of the opposition began to publish lists of candidates on other platforms - including GitHub, reports "Mediazone."
Roskomnadzor sent letters demanding Apple and Google to delete the Navalny application. The companies complied with the requirements of the department and on the first day of the vocabulary deleted the Navalny application from stores, and in October in Google Play returned it to Russian users.
The New York Times wrote that Google deleted the application after the threats of the Russian authorities to start the case against employees of the company in Russia. According to the source of the publication, the names of specific people who work in the Russian branch of Google were named, against which the authorities can initiate criminal cases.
Last week, the Moscow court fined Meta Platforms and Twitter for 13 and 10 million rubles, respectively, for the failure of prohibited information. The companies found guilty under the same article (part 2 of article 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) as GitHub.
