Later it became known that the donkey had a nickname Moses, and he lived on the territory of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky monastery in the village of Spas-Kupalisch. According to the zoo defenders, the animal recently fell ill, the locals raised money and performed an operation for him. But, apparently, the pains did not stop. The leadership of the Orthodox Church, according to the authors of the publication, simply threw a donkey into a 25-degree frost, saying that they say all the will of God.

Messages about the atrocities by the church ministers caused a wide public outcry. Activists of the regional branch of the organization “Atheists of Russia” sent an appeal to the Investigative Committee with a request to check the actions of the monastery’s leadership for the commission of a crime under the article of the Criminal Code of Crime Carrying out an animal committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy.

Even a deputy of the State Duma, the first deputy chairman of the Ecology Committee, Vladimir Burmatov, drew attention to the situation. The politician told the publication "Says Moscow" that he will deal with this case. The parliamentarian considered it necessary to pick up other pets from the Transfiguration Monastery and transfer them to the shelter.

After giving the situation, a statement appeared on the official website of the Murom Diocese in which the believers called information about the hard handling of the monastery donkey. The animal, according to the ministers of the monastery, passed away in the corral, after which the corpse went to bury, but due to the breakdown of the car they temporarily unloaded on the side of the road. In confirmation of the above version, a video was attached to the application.

The employee decided to temporarily unload the remains of the donkey on the side of the road. After the right transport appeared, the corpse of the animal was delivered to the burial place.
