A working group for the protection of Christian values is being created in the State Duma
On December 28, 2021, it became known about the formation in the State Duma of an inter-factional group for the protection of Christian values.
Patriarch Kirill gave his blessing to the creation and work of the group.
On February 14, 2022, the group was formed, led, as expected, by Peter Tolstoy.
According to him, one of the group’s tasks will be to coordinate the interaction of the Duma on issues of protecting the traditional values of our country with representatives of all traditional religious faiths.
“In connection with the recently adopted amendments to the constitution, we consider it necessary to correlate the legislative decisions being considered by the State Duma not only with the already existing criteria of efficiency and financial costs, but also with the traditional values of our country, the interests of families, and the tasks of saving people set by the president,” Tolstoy said .
The group included 57 deputies from different factions, including Vitaly Milonov, Tatyana Butskaya, Konstantin Zatulin, actors Nikolai Burlyaev and Dmitry Pevtsov.
Let us remember that similar groups were created in the Dumas of previous convocations, but their activities were not very noticeable.
