Tulyak Sosov arrested for displaying symbols of a banned organization

On the page of Tula, they found publications with the symbols of the banned organizations of Alexei Navalny.

On January 25, 2022, the Proletarsky District Court of the city of Tula arrested Sergey Sosov for 15 days under Part 1 of Art. 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (public demonstration of symbols of extremist organizations). The reason was that Sosov posted on his page on the social network the symbols of the banned organizations of Alexei Navalny.

The Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), the Foundation for the Protection of Citizens' Rights (FZPG) and the headquarters of Alexei Navalny were recognized as extremist organizations on June 9, 2021. The decision to ban came into force on 4 August. In our opinion, there were no legal grounds for banning Navalny's organizations as extremist and, accordingly, we consider it unlawful to be persecuted for displaying their symbols. The corresponding protocol was most likely drawn up on January 25, 2022. Earlier, on January 21, Sosov refused to proceed to law enforcement agencies, after which he was arrested by the court for five days under Art. 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (disobedience to the lawful order of a police officer).

In 2021, Sosov was already arrested twice under the same article for publications with Nazi symbols, which, from our point of view, were not aimed at promoting Nazism. Earlier, Sosov was also prosecuted under Part 2 of Art. 5.26 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (deliberate public desecration of objects of religious veneration, signs or emblems of ideological symbols and paraphernalia) for the publication of collages with icons - from our point of view, is also unlawful.
